Although; blunder

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Each sentence below has two blanks, each blank indicating that something has been omitted. Choose the set of words for each blank which best fits the meaning of the sentence as a whole.
______you are human, you are bound to make a/an ____every now and then.
Options:
A) Despite, fumble
B) Although, blunder
C) Because, gaffe
D) Since, excel
E) None of the above
Solution:
Ans: (c) Because, gaffe

While reading the sentence one can easily make out that is seems to suggest some kind of mistake, or error, or blunder that one is liable to make on account of being a human. So, the sentence gives a reason or justification of it, and not the contrast or opposition that is suggested by the use of words 'although' and 'despite'. So, Option (a) and (b) are not to be considered. Option (d) is also not apt as 'Since you are human , you are bound to make a/an excel every now and then' also doesn't sound completely meaningful

Gaffe (noun) an unintentional act or remark causing embarrassment to its originator; a blunder

Eg:  In my first few months at work I made some real gaffes

He realized that he had committed an awful gaffe when he mispronounced her name.

He committed a huge gaffe when she started drinking from the finger bowl.
