Question:

DIRECTIONS: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:


Eight World cup Matches M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7 and M8 are going to be played in two different Places viz. London and Cardiff on four different dates viz. 1,8,26 and 29 of a month. One Match will be played on one date in each city. 


• Match M5 is neither played on the same date as M2 nor on same date as M7.

• M2 will be played in Cardiff on an odd date. Both Matches M4 and M8 will be played on same date. 

• Match M4 will be played after M5 in the same city. Both Matches M2 and M7 are played in same city and only two Matches are played in between M2 and M7 in that city. 

• Match M4 and M7 are not played in the same city. Match M1 is not played on an odd date. Both Match M7 and M3 are played before Match M1. 

Which match was played on same date as M2?
Options:
A) M8
B) M3
C) M1
D) M6
E) M5
Solution:

we will have two cases of M2 being on either 1st or 29th date in Cardiff. And Both Matches M2 and M7 are played in same city and only two Matches are played between them, M7 Will be on the alternative position of M2. Because it is stated that Both Match M7 and M3 are played before Match M1. We can identify that M7 will be on 1st date and M2 on the 29th.  M4 and M8 will be together and because it is not in the same city as M2, it will be in lords and because it is after M5 , M4 will be on 26th along with M8 but M4 will be in Lords. Rest with the given direct statements , we can easily fill the arrangement.
