If in the year 2005, the sales of watches of company XYZ form 25% by volume of the total sales of watches, then what is the average selling price per watch of all the other companies in that year?
Options:
A) Rs.200
B) Rs.2000
C) Rs.1500
D) Rs.150
E) None of these
Solution:

Sales of the company xyz in 2005 =  \(\cfrac{40}{100}\) × 4500 = 1800 crores

⇒ Number of watches sold =  \(\cfrac{1800}{3000}\) × 107 = 6 ×106

The total watches sold in the market =  4 × 6 ×106

Let the average price of watches by all other companies be X

 \(\cfrac{(4500-1800)× 10^7}{x}\)  = 18 ×  106

⇒ X = Rs. 1500
