how 2/5 comes

Question:

A bag contains 6 white and 4 red balls. Three balls are drawn one by one with replacement. What is the probability that all 3 balls are red?

Options:
A) \(\cfrac{8}{125}\)
B) \(\cfrac{1}{20}\)
C) \(\cfrac{1}{30}\)
D) \(\cfrac{1}{120}\)
E)

None of these

Solution:

Ans: (a) P (of Red ball in first attempt) = \(\cfrac{4}{10} \ = \cfrac{2}{5}\)

Here probability will remain same for the next two attempt.

\(\therefore\) Probability = \(\cfrac{2}{5} × \cfrac{2}{5} ×\cfrac{2}{5} = \cfrac{8}{125}\)
