in this question according to solution the statement should be "the lenght of diagnol of new square is equal to sqrt2 times the length of old square.

Question:

A square having area 200sq.m, is formed in such a way that the length of its diagonal is √2 times of the diagonal of a new square. Then the area of the new square formed is:

Options:
A)

200√2 sq. m

B)

400√2 sq. m

C)

400 sq. m

D)

800 sq. m

E)

None of these

Solution:

Side of the first square =  Area−−−−√

=  200−−−√  = 10√2 meter

Its diagonal = √2 × side

= 10√2 × √2

= 20 meter

∴ Diagonal of new square

= √2 × 20 = 20√2 meter

∴ Its area =  12 × (diagonal)2

=  12  × 20√2 × 20√2

= 400 sq. meter
