How could the value of x=2 is greater than value of y=2.2

Question:
Directions : In the given question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and Give Answer If


I. 3x2 – 17x + 22 = 0

ll. 5y2 – 21y + 22 = 0

Options:
A) x ≥ y
B) x ≤ y
C) x > y
D) x < y
E) x = y or relationship between x and y cannot be established.
Solution:

I. 3x2 – 17x + 22 = 0

⇒ 3x2 – 11x – 6x + 22 = 0

⇒ 3x(x – 2) -11(x - 2) = 0

⇒ (3x – 11)(x – 2) = 0

⇒ x =  \(\frac{11}{3}\) , x = 2

ll. 5y2 – 21y + 22 = 0

⇒ 5y2 – 10y – 11y + 22 = 0

⇒ 5y(y – 2) -11(y – 2)=0

⇒ (5y – 11)(y – 2) = 0

y =  \(\frac{11}{5}\) , y = 2
