please explain the solution once again in detail

Question:
A candidate who scores 30% fails by 5 marks, while another candidate who scores 40% marks gets 10 more than minimum pass marks. The minimum marks required to pass are:
Options:
A) 50
B) 70
C) 100
D) 150
Solution:
Let the maximum marks be 100 x.

Now A T Q,

30x +5=40x -10=Passing Marks

10 x =15

100 x=150

Therefore Passing Marks=30 x+5=45+5=50

its 30% of total marks(x)

(30/100) * x

= 3x/10

Let x = total marks

A candidate who scores 30% fails by 5 marks

first candidate score = 3x/10

it means minimum passing marks = 30x/100 + 5 = 3x/10 + 5

candidate who scores 40% marks gets 10 more than minimum pass marks

it means,

40x/100 = 10 + 3x/10 + 5

2x/5 - 3x/10 = 15

(4x-3x) / 10 = 15

x = 150

minimum passing marks = 3x/10 + 5 = (3*150) / 10 + 5 =450/10 + 5 = 45 + 5 = 50
