The ratio between the ages of Faiza and Salu at present is 5: 2 respectively. Four years hence the ratio between the ages of the Salu and Monika will be 1: 2 respectively. What is the ratio between the present ages of the Faiza and the Monika respectively?

Solution:

Let the present ages of Faiza and Salu be ‘5x’ and ‘2x’ years respectively.

After 4 years, Salu’s age = (2x + 4) years 

According to question

⇒ Age of Monika =2 x (2x+ 4) = 4x+ 8 years 

Present age of Monika = 4x + 8 - 4

= 4x + 4

Ratio between the present age of the Faiza and Monika = 5x: (4x + 4) 

∴ We cannot find the exact value of ratio.
