Question:
The ratio of milk and water in 66 liter of adulterated milk is 5 : 1. Water is added to it to make the ratio 5 : 3. The quantity of water added is:
Options:
A) 20 liters
B) 22 liters
C) 24 liters
D) 28 liters
E) None of these
Solution:

Milk = \(\cfrac{5}{6}\) × 66 = 5 × 11 = 55

Water = 66 – 55 = 11

Let n liter of water is added

\(\cfrac{55}{11 + n}\) = \(\cfrac{5}{3}\)

\(\cfrac{11}{11 + n}\) = \(\cfrac{1}{3}\)

33 = 11 + n

n = 33 – 11

= 22 liter
