how the figure was drawn and how faster one swims 80 kmph?

Question:
Two swimmers started simultaneously from the beach, one to the south and the other to the east. Two hours later, the distance between them turned out to be 100 km. Find the speed of the faster swimmer, knowing that the speed of one of them was 75% of the speed of the other.
Options:
A) 30 kmph
B) 40 kmph
C) 45 kmph
D) 60 kmph
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (b) The following figure gives us the movement of the two swimmers:

The faster swimmer must have traveled 80 km in 2 hours and hence his speed is 40 kmph.

let, faster one has speed xkm/h and slower one 75%of x= 3x/4. now in two hrs they will travel 2xkm and 6x/4 km respectively. now according to pythagoras (2x)square +(6x/4)square=(100)square. calulate x value... thats it....if cant understand the diagramme

Take your mind towards direction sense, from origin one will move towards south and one will move towards East, after 2 hours both will be traveled few distance. Now Join both the points, you will get a right angle triangle. so one side is given 100km, think about Pythagoras triplet, you will get (100,80,60). so The faster swimmer must have traveled 80 km in 2 hours and hence his speed is 40 kmph.
