Question:
DIRECTIONS: Study the following graph carefully and answer the question given below it:

The following graphs give the sales, profits and percentage of tax paid by two companies, ABC Limited and XYZ Limited for the period from 2002 to 2008.

If in 2009, the sales of XYZ Limited increases by 20% over its value in 2008 and its profit increases by only 10% over its corresponding value in 2008, then find the total expenditure of XYZ Limited in 2009 (Total Expenditure = Sales - Profit).
Options:
A) Rs.500 crores
B) Rs. 512 crores
C) Rs. 516.5 crores
D) Rs. 556 crores
E) None of these
Solution:

Ans: (d)

For XYZ Limited, sales in 2009 = 1.2 (500)

= 600 crores

Profit 1.1 (40) = 44 crores

Expenditure = Sales - Profit 600 - 44

= 556 crores
