there is no mention of running 20 meter after first turn

Question:
A dog was running behind the cat. The cat was running west from a point and ran 50m before taking a left turn and then ran 20m. Again the cat took left and ran towards 70m. The cat dodged the dog by taking the right turn and ran for another 20m south. The cat again took the right turn and ran for another 80m west. The cat then took the right turn and ran for 120m to find a shelter. Find the direction and distance of cat’s shelter with respect to the starting point.
Options:
A) North-East, 100m
B) North-West, 100m
C) South-East, 80m
D) South-West, 80m
E) None of these
Solution:
Ans: (b)

According to the representative figure,

GH = 80m, GA = 60m.

Now, using Pythagoras theorem,

GH2 + GA2 = AH2

802+ 602 = AH2

AH2 = 6400+3600

AH = \(\sqrt[]{10000}\)

AH = 100m

The cat’s shelter is at 100m in the north-west direction.
