In his first 12 months in office, Mr Obama has __(a)_(surpassed) the stabilizing of the economy, and has  __(b)_ (treated ) affordable health care to virtually every American citizen.  He has put an end to the __(c)__ (tenure)of torture, is robustly prosecuting the war in Afghanistan while gradually __(d)__ (abating) from Iraq. Perhaps more __(e)__ (unnecessary) than any of these, has been clearing  the cloud of __(f)__ (loath) and fear through which  world  equated the United States during George Bush's presidency. More generally, Mr Obama has run a competent, disciplined (g) (ministry) with few flaws . Just as __(h)__ (broken) have been the roads not taken. Mr Obama has resisted the __(i)__ (instinct) to give in to the populists in his own party and saddle Wall Street with __(J)__ (rope) that would choke it.

Find the appropriate word for blank (f).
Options:
A) elation
B) compassion
C) agog
D) moribund
E) Given option is correct
Solution:
Ans: (e) loath

The phrase 'the cloud of loath and fear' would be used. The conjunction 'and' is used to join similar things, so elation, compassion, agog can be safely eliminated while making a choice of correct option. "moribund' has a negative connotation but 'the cloud of moribund and fear' would be a totally incorrect usage
