Question:

DIRECTIONS: Read the below pie chart carefully and answer the following questions:

Five online book stores P, Q, R, S and T sell Sachin’s biography and MS Dhoni’s biography. Following pie- chart shows number of biographies sold by them in December 2018.

  

If online book store P and Q sold equal number of Sachin’s biography and the ratio of MS Dhoni’s biography sold by online book store P to that sold by Q is 5:3, then find the number of Sachin’s biography sold by online book store P and Q together?

Ans: (d)

P →  19100×1600=304   

Q →  17100×1600=272   

R →  20100×1600=320   

S →  21100×1600=336   

T →  23100×1600=368   

⇒ Let the number of Sachin’s biography sold by online store P be x

⇒ Similarly, number of Sachin’s biography sold by online store Q is also x

⇒ Given, (304 - x)/(272 - x) = 5/3

⇒ On solving the above, we get x = 224

∴ number of Sachin’s biography sold by online book store P and Q together = 224+224 = 448
