cebfad -if this is the correct answer, then why it shows d is the correct answer as the fifth sentence should be a.

Question:

DIRECTIONS: Rearrange the six sentences A, B, C, D, E and F in the proper sequence to form a meaningful paragraph; then answer the questions given below them.

A. India also has some of the most biodiverse regions of the world and hosts three of the world’s 34 biodiversity hotspots - the Western Ghats, the Eastern Himalaya, and Indo-Burma.

B. It is home to Bengal tiger, Indian lions, pythons, deer, wolves, foxes, bears, monkeys, snakes, antelope species, varieties of bison and the Asian elephant.

C. The wildlife in India comprises a mix of species of different types of organisms.

D. Since India is home to a number of rare and threatened animal species, wildlife management in the country is essential to preserve those species.

E. Apart from a handful of the major farm animals such as cows, buffaloes, goats, poultry and camels, India has an amazingly wide variety of animals native to the country.

F. This rich and diverse wildlife is preserved in 120+ national parks, 18 Bio-reserves and 500+ wildlife sanctuaries across the country.

Which of the following should be the fifth sentence after rearrangement?

Options:
A) C
B) E
C) D
D) A
E) B
Solution:
Ans: (d) On reading the passage you will be able to understand that the passage is about wildlife in India Statement (C) which introduces Wildlife in India as ‘comprising a mix of species’ forms the opening sentence of the para. This is then to be followed by statement (E) because it supports what is said in statement (C) about India ‘compressing a mix of different types of organisms’. So statement (E) should follow statement (C). Statement (B) which lists out the wide variety of animals that India is home to is a continuation of what is mentioned in statement (E). So statement (B) should follow statement (E). ‘This rich and diverse wildlife’ in statement (F) can refer only to the wide variety of animals mentioned in statement (B). So statement (F) is to follow statement (B). This leaves us with statements (A) and (D). Between statements (A) and (D) only statement (D) can conclude the para. This suggests that statement (A) should preceed statement (D). Therefore the sequence is CEBFAD.
