how 2 take 6 in lcm

Question:

Quantity-I: A, B and C together can do a work in 4 days. If A and B together do 50% of the work in 2.4 days, and B and C together do 75% of the work in 6 days, then find the time taken by A and C together to complete the whole work.

Quantity-II: 6 days

Options:
A)

Quantity-I > Quantity-II

B)

Quantity-I < Quantity-II

C)

Quantity-I ≤ Quantity-II

D)

Quantity-I = Quantity-II or No relation

E)

Quantity-I ≥ Quantity-II

Solution:

Ans: (d)

Quantity I: Let, total work = LCM of 6, 2.4, and  6 = 24 units

Number of units of work done by A, B, and C  together in a day = 24/4 = 6 units

Number of units of work done by A and B  together in a day = 12/2.4 = 5 units

Number of units of work done by B and C  together in a day = 18/6 = 3 units

 Number of units of work done by C alone in a  day = 6 – 5 = 1 unit

 Number of units of work done by A alone in a  day = 6 – 3 = 3 units

Number of units of work done by A and C  together in a day = 4 units

 So, required time taken = 24/4 = 6 days

 Quantity II: 6 days
