Question:
5 members of a team are weighed consecutively and their average weight calculated after each member is weighed. If the average weight increases by one kg each time, how much heavier is the last member than the first one?
Options:
A) 14 kg.
B) 20 kg.
C) 8 kg.
D) 5 kg.
E) None of these.
Solution:

Weight of first member = x kg

Weight of second member =(x + 2) kg

Weight of third member =(x + 2 + 3) kg

Weight of fourth member =(x + 2 + 3 + 4) kg

Weight of fifth member =(x + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5) kg

So, difference = x +  14 -  x = 14 kg

since the average of 2 person increases by 1 kg,so obviously the weight of second person is 2 kg more.hence x+2 kg.

Weight of first member = x kg
Weight of second member =(x + 2) kg
Weight of third member =(x + 2 + 3) kg
Weight of fourth member =(x + 2 + 3 + 4) kg
Weight of fifth member =(x + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5) kg
So, difference = x + 14 - x = 14 kg
