how its answer is compared????

Question:
DIRECTION : In the given question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and Give answer if

I. x2 - 22x + 120 = 0

II. y2 - 26y + 168 = 0

Options:
A) x < y
B) x ≤ y
C) x > y
D) x ≥ y
E) x = y or the relationship cannot be established
Solution:

From equation I,

x2 – 22x + 120 = 0

X2 – 10x – 12x + 120 = 0

(x – 10) (x – 12) = 0

x = 10, 12

From equation II,

y2 – 26y + 168 = 0

y2 – 12y – 14y+ 168 = 0

y(y – 12) -14(y – 12) = 0

(y – 12)(y – 14) = 0

y = 12, 14

∴, x ≤ y

We have:

x=10,12 and y=12,14

Compare Now,

10<12 means x<y _______(1)

10<14 means x<y _______(2)

12=12 means x=y _______(3)

12<14 means x<y _______(4)

On combining(1),(2),(3) and (4), we get

x<=y which is marked as answer
