what is 29.3 denotes here?
Where it Comes from??

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Answer the questions based on the following information. The histograms below show the number of units sold by the three motorcycle manufacturers, i.e. Bajaj, Hero, and TVS and the other graph show the market share (in units) of Hero ,in five consecutive years.

If the sales of motorcycle drops by 8% in 2005, but still Hero sale raise by 12% then what will be the market share of Hero in 2005?
Options:
A) 48.9%
B) 50.6%
C) 58.6%
D) 65.8%
E) None of these
Solution:

Sale of motorcycle in 2005 = 29.3 x 105 x 0.92 = 26.95 x 105 unit.

Number of unit sold by Hero in 2005 =14.1 × 105 × 1.12

=15.8× 105 unit

So market share = \(\cfrac{15.8×10^5}{26.95×10^5}×100=58.6\% \)

Its clearly given in the question that the sales of motorcycle drops by 8% in 2005, but still Hero sale raise by 12%.

So, Sale of motorcycle in 2005 = 14.1 + 12% of 14.1 + 14. 1 = 28.2 + 12% of 14.1 = 28.2 + 1.692 = 29.892 = 29.9 lakhs approx. = 29.9 * 10^5 units
