Question:
The difference between the square of two consecutive odd numbers is always divisible by:
Options:
A) 3
B) 6
C) 7
D) 8
E) 5
Solution:
Let the two consecutive odd number be (2x+1) and (2x+3)

According the question,

(2x+3)2-(2x+1)2

=(2x+3+2x+1)(2x+3-2x-1)

=(4x+4)(2)  [.. (x2-y2)=(x+y)(x-y)]

=8(x+1)

which is always divisible by 8
