There is no co relation between cot and hammer. How can we come to the conclusion that some cots are hammers?

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the question below are given four statements followed by three conclusions numbered I, II and III. You have to take the given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

Statements:

All sticks are hammers.

No hammer is dress.

Some dresses are doors.

All doors are cots.

Conclusions:

I. Some cots are hammers.

II. No cot is hammer.

III. Some dresses are sticks.

Options:
A)

Only I follows

B) Only II follows
C) Only III follows
D) Either I or II follows
E) Either I or II and III follow
Solution:

Sol: (d)

Hence, either I or II follows.

Its not considered as 100% true......Conclusion I makes contradiction with conclusion II, so one the these true has to be true.....Thats why either I or II is kept as an answer..

Note: Always remember, Some+No=either or (Provided there should be no relation given in the statement between two elements)

Hence,

I. Some cots are hammers.
II. No cot is hammer.

either I or II is true
