DIRECTIONS: The given questions contains a number series in which one of the number is a wrong number. Find out the wrong number and form a new series starting with the wrong number and by using the pattern in the given series. Answer the questions based on the new series:

7, 21, 66, 138, 420, 846

What is the fifth term of the new series?

Options:
A) 1098 
B) 3652 
C) 924
D) 512 
E) None of these
Solution:

Ans: (c) The series can be represented as follows.

7×2+6, 20×3+6, 66×2+6, 138×3+6, 420×2+6, 846

∴ The wrong term is 21. 

Therefore the new series will be

21×2+6, 48×3+6, 150×2+6, 306×3+6, 924

∴ 924 will be the fifth term in the new series.
