how got 6*6*9

Question:
Three solid cubes of sides 1 cm, 6 cm and 8 cm are melted to form a new cube. Find the surface area of the cube so formed.
Options:
A) 486
B) 729
C) 576
D) 625
E) None of these
Solution:
Volume of new cube (13 + 63 + 83) cm3= 729 cm3.

Edge of new cube=\( \sqrt[3]{729}\) cm = 9 cm.

Surface area of the new cube = (6 x 9 x 9) cm2 = 486 cm2.

Nowhere its written, please see solution again..

Volume of new cube = (1^3 + 6^3 + 8^3) cm^3= 729 cm^3.
Edge of new cube= cube√(729) = 9 cm.
Surface area of the new cube = 6l^2 = 6*l*l = (6 x 9 x 9) cm^2 = 486 cm^2.
