but sindhu looks like female name , how we suppose to choose surname..for sindhu gender is not mentioned.

Hi, there is no need to konw gender of Santosh to answer the question which u have asked....Because need to find Santosh's Sir name, So, Santosh is the son of Sindhu and Sindhu is the son of Mr.& Mrs. Malya, therefore Surname of Santosh is Malya.
