can any explain how to find which one is greater

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In each question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and Give Answer If

I. x2 + 5x + 6 = 0

II. 4y2 + 24y + 35 = 0

Options:
A) x < y
B) x > y
C) x ≥ y
D) x ≤ y
E) x = y or relationship between x and y cannot be established.
Solution:

I. x2 + 5x + 6 = 0

⇒ x2 + 3x + 2x + 6 = 0

⇒ x(x + 3) +2 (x + 3) = 0

⇒ (x + 2) (x + 3) = 0

⇒ x = - 2 or – 3

II. 4y2 + 24y + 35 = 0

⇒ 4y2 + 14y + 10y + 35 = 0

⇒ 2y(2y+ 7) +5(2y + 7) = 0

⇒ (2y+ 7) (2y + 5) = 0

⇒ y = - \(\frac{7}{2}\)  or - \(\frac{5}{2}\)  = -3.5 or  - 2.5

Yes see we have:
x = - 2 , – 3 and y = -3.5 , - 2.5
Now, correlate each value of x with each value of y.

-2>-3.5 means x>y _______(1)
-3>-3.5 means x>y _________(2)
-2>-3.5 means x>y _________(3)
-3<-2.5 means x<y ________(4)

As we can not combine all the four equations together because > and < do not appear together to make relationship between two elements.

So, option(e) is correct.
