DIRECTIONS: Read the given conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

Statements: Some Guava are Mango.

All Papaya are Banana.    No Papaya is Orange.

Some Papaya are Mango.

Conclusions: I. Some Mango are not Orange.

II. All Orange being Guava is a possibility.

III. Some orange are not Banana.

Options:
A)

Only I follows.  

B)

Only I and II follow.

C)

Only II and III follow. 

D)

Only II follows.

E)

Only I, II and III follow.

Solution:

Ans: (b)

From above given statements we have:

  

From I: Some Mango are not Orange.

Clearly, no papaya is Orange and some part of Mango is papaya, thus some Mango can never be orange.

Hence, conclusion I follows.

From II: All Orange being Guava is a possibility.

  

Clearly, above given possibility case diagram follows all given statements.

Hence, conclusion II follows.

From III: Some orange are not Banana.

Clearly, there is no direct connection between Banana and Orange, thus we can’t establish any relation.

Hence, conclusion III doesn’t follows.

Hence, only I and II follow.
