Yields is defined as the quantity produced per hectare.
Which of the following statements is true?
Options:
A) Production is increasing continuously over the years for only four crops.
B) Area under cultivation in 2012 is less than the same in 2011.
C) Yields of tea in 2010 is less than that of jute in the same year.
D) Average production of sugarcane for three years is 8430 tonnes.
E) None of these
Solution:

Production is increasing continuously over the years for five crops, namely cotton, maize, wheat, rice and groundnut.

∴ Option (1) is false.

It is obvious from the table that the area under cultivation in 2012 is more than the same in 2011.

∴ Option (2) is false.

Yield of Jute in 2010 = \(\cfrac{35}{25}\) = 1.4 thousand tons/hectare

Yield of tea in 2010 = \(\cfrac{48}{40}\)= 1.2 thousand tons/hectare

∴ Yield of tea is less than that of jute in 2010.

∴ Option (3) is true.
