3. Shakespeare the bard (a) / barb (b) brought alive Caesar in his ‘Julius Caesar’.

Options:
A) aba
B) aab
C) abb
D) bbb
E) aaa
Solution:

‘Alludes’ means to refer to and ‘elude’ means to evade. The first word is suitable here.

‘Gilding the lily’ is an idiom and it means to superfluously improve something which is already very good. This suits the context very well. ‘Guilding’ means to cover with gold leaf, and is not suitable here.

‘Bard’ means a poet’, while barb’ means ‘a cutting remark’. The first word is suitable here.
