how to get 2(y+x)=32 . plz tell me

Question:
Directions : In the given question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and Give answer if


I. y2 – x2 = 32

II. y – x = 2

Options:
A) x > y
B) x ≥y
C) x < y
D) x ≤ y
E) x = y or the relationship cannot be established
Solution:

I. y2 – x2 = 32

(y – x) (y + x) = 32

2 (y + x) = 32

y + x = 16 ___(I)

y – x = 2 ___(II)

from (I) & (II)

y = 9

x = 7

Remember formula,
a^2 -b^ 2 = (a-b)(a+b)
From I. y^2 – x^2 = 32
On applying formula, we get
(y+x)(y-x)=32
put y-x=2 given in second equation
2(x+y)=32
