T is in south of Q not east.

Question:

Direction: Study the following information and answer the given questions:

A person ride his bike 44 km in a clockwise Direction forming a semicircle and reach to point Q which is in east and parallel to his starting point P ,then ride towards point P and covers half distance and reaches point R. From point R he moves 20 km in south Direction and reaches point S and again rides in anticlockwise Direction forming semicircle and reach to point T which is in east and parallel to Q & S.

What is the distance between point R and point Q?

Options:
A)

6 km

B)

14 km

C)

5 km

D)

10 km

E)

7 km

Solution:

Ans: (b)

P & Q are making a semicircular path and RQ is half of the distance of PQ,

That means RQ as a radius of a semicircle whose diameter is PQ.

Perimeter of the semicircle would be 44 km= \(\pi r\)

r = 14 km

RQ = 14 km ; RQ =ST(point T is in east and parallel to both Q & S)

So we can also consider RS = QT.
