if original price = x then

discounted price = x - 20% of x = 4x/5 ___(1)

Vishal sold an article for Rs 1,740 and made 15 percent profit on the discounted price he bought.

Discounted price = (100/115)*1740 ____(2)

Now, equate 1 and 2,

4x/5 = (100/115)*1740

x= 1891 and 7/23 which is original price.
