how can we compare plus minus 27 with plus 27

Question:

DIRECTION: In the given question two equations numbered I and II are given. You have to solve both the equations and


Give answer if   

    

I.  x2 – 365 = 364

II. y -  \(\sqrt{324} =\sqrt{81}\)

Options:
A) x > y
B) x ≥ y
C) x < y
D) x ≤ y
E)

x = y or the relationship cannot be established.


Solution:

Ans: (d) 

I. x2 - 365 =364

x2 =364 + 365

x = ±\(\sqrt{729}\)  = ± 27


II.  y - \(\sqrt{324}=\sqrt{81}\) 

y = 9 +18 = 27

\(\therefore y\geq x\)

Now compare,

27=27 means x=y

-27 < 27 means x<y
