how to approach such a complex question where the increase is asked in all commodity in all months. its very lengthy, isn't it?

Question:

DIRECTIONS: Go through the dataset given below and solve the questions based on it.

Following graph shows the price (Rs per kg) of different commodities during the last 6 months.

Price of which commodity shows the highest percentage increase in a month?
Options:
A) Onion in August
B) Potato in April
C) Tomato in July
D) Tomato in April
E) Onion in April
Solution:

Ans (2) The price of Potato in April rose from \(\unicode{x20B9} \)5.25 to \(\unicode{x20B9} \)12.5 per kg.

Therefore, % increase = \(\cfrac{12.5-5.25}{5.25}×100 ≈ 138\%\)

In no other case, the price increase is more than 100%

you can solve it by comparing with graph. graph clearly shows that price rises from 5.25 to 12.5 which is more than twice.
no any other data being twice in the next month.so we can conclude that maximum % increase in the price of potato is in April.
