Full solution??

Question:

DIRECTIONS: Study the following information carefully and answer the questions given below:

Seven persons P, Q, R, S, T, U and V  live on different floors in the same building having seven floors numbered from one to seven (the ground floor is numbered one, the floor above it is numbered two and likewise the top floor is numbered seven.) Each of them has different professions viz. Sports man, Banker, Teacher, Doctor, Professor, Engineer and Advocate (but, not necessarily in the same order). Each of them has different monthly expenditures viz. 40K, 50K, 60K, 70K, 75K, 80K and 85K (but, not necessarily in the same order).

Neither U nor Q is a Banker or a Teacher. The one who lives on the 5th floor spends 10K less than the Advocate. R lives on the odd numbered floor but above the floor of the one who is a Teacher (but not immediately above). V lives immediately below the Advocate. The one who is an Advocate gets 85 K. Teacher has more expenditure than only two. Engineer lives between P and R. The Professor spends 10K less than the Banker and both of them are neighbours. Doctor lives on the top most floor and has less expenditures than the Engineer but not 40K. V is a Professor. The one who is a Banker does not live on 2nd floor. T and Q are neighbours.

Four of the following five are alike in a certain way based on the given arrangement and thus, form a group. Who is the one that does not belong to that group?

Options:
A)

T

B)

Q

C)

S

D)

R

E)

P

Solution:

Ans(a)

Profession and there expenditures-

Teacher has more expenditure than only two.

The one who is an Advocate gets 85 K.

Doctor lives on the top most floor and has less expenditures than the Engineer but not 40K.

Doctor is neither on 5th floor nor have exp. of 40k. So he must be having exp. of 70k and Engineer will be having exp. of 80k.

The Professor spends 10K less than the Banker and both of them are neighbours.

Now we are left with only Sportsman so he must be living on 5th floor having exp. of 75k.

V is a Professor.

Professor (V)< Banker < Teacher < Doctor(7th) <(Sportsman)5th< Engineer < Advocate

    (40k)            (50k)       (60k)        (70k)              (75k)              (80k)         (85k)

Now,

The Professor and Banker are neighbours.

V(Professor)lives immediately below the Advocate.

The one who is a Banker does not live on 2nd floor.

So they must be on following floors.

R lives on the odd numbered floor but above the floor of the one who is a Teacher. Engineer lives between P and R.

R must be on 7th floor and P will be on 5th floor.

Neither U nor Q is a Banker or a Teacher.

T and Q are neighbours. So Q and T must be on 3rd and  4th floor respectively. And U must be an engineer and S will be a banker.

Final arrangement is-
