DIRECTIONS: Read the following table and answer the questions that follow it.

These questions are based on the following bar graph.


The number of males who like Swimming is equal to the number of children who like Wrestling. The number of children who like Swimming is 72 less than the number of males who like Wrestling. Then what is the total number of people who like Swimming?

C) 8800
D) 8200

Solution:

Ans: (e) Let the number of people who like Swimming & Wrestling be ‘s’ & ‘w’ respectively.

Given that,

⇒ 0.36w – 0.36s =72

⇒ w – s = 200 --------------(1)

Now,

⇒ 0.41s – 0.4w = 0 -----------(2)

Substitute the value of (1) in (2)

⇒ 0.41 (w – 200) – 0.4w = 0

⇒ 0.01w = 82

⇒ w = 8200

The total number of people who like Swimming = 8200 – 200 = 8000
