How Q1>Q2 ???

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following question, two statements numbered I and II are given, on solving them, we get quantities I and II respectively. Compare both the quantities and choose the correct option.

Quantity I- A mixture of 30 litres contain milk and water in the ratio of 7:3. How much water should be added to it so that the ratio of milk and water becomes 3:7?

Quantity II- 40 Litre

Options:
A)

Quantity I > Quantity II

B)

Quantity I < Quantity II

C)

Quantity I ≥ Quantity II

D)

Quantity I ≤ Quantity II

E)

Quantity I = Quantity II or the relation can’t be determined

Solution:

 From Quantity I-

30 ltr with Ratio 7 : 3

Milk : 21ltrs

Water : 9ltrs

\(\cfrac{21}{9+x} = \cfrac{3}{7}\)

147 = 27+3x

120 = 3x

x = 40

From Quantity II- 40 Litre

By hit and trial Method:

If we add 40 litres more water in the mixture, then the ratio of milk to water will be 3:7.

= 40 Litre
