I think Option (A) is the correct conclusion for the statement provided, not the assumption as assumptions are pre inferred.

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In question below given a statement followed by two assumptions numbered I and II. An assumption is something supposed or taken for granted. You have to consider the statement and the following assumption and decide which of the assumption is implicit in the statement.

Statement:

Many people were caught by the railway police while they were trying to cross the railway tracks and imposed heavy penalty before releasing them.

Assumptions:

I. People may refrain from crossing railway tracks in future.

II. People may continue crossing railway tracks and pay hefty penalty.
Options:
A) if only assumption I is implicit
B) if only assumption II is implicit
C) if either I or II is implicit
D) if neither I nor II is implicit
E) if both I and II are implicit
Solution:

Ans : (a)

After seeing that heavy penalty was imposed on those who were trying to cross the railway track, people may refrain from crossing railway track in future. So, assumption I is implicit while II is not because no one wants to pay hefty penalty.
