how to place r and b

Question:

DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.

Eight students A, B, C, D, P, Q, R and S – sit around a circular table in such a way that some are facing away from the centre and the remaining are facing the centre. A and C are neighbours. A sits third to the left of P, who faces the centre. The students who sit two places away from C face away from the centre. No two adjacent students face the centre. D sits two places away to the right of Q, who is at the opposite position of S. The neighbours of R and D face opposite directions (i.e., if one faces the centre, the other faces away from the centre).

Who sits to the immediate left of Q?

Options:
A)

A

B)

R

C)

C

D)

B

E)

Cannot be determined

Solution:

Ans: (c)

Given A and C are neighbours. A sits third to the left of P, who faces the centre. The students who sit two places away from C face away from the centre and no two adjacent students faces the centre. Hence, the possible arrangement is as shown below.

Given, D sits two places away to the right of Q, who is at the opposite position of S.

Hence, D sits to the immediate right of P.

As the neighbours of R face opposite directions. R should sit to the immediate right of A, who should face the centre. Hence the final arrangement is as shown below.

C sits to the immediate left of Q.
