as per qstn already mentioned R is the is the wife of S ... then absolutely S would be a male person.... male means he is definitely son to M ..............

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Read the following information carefully and answer the questions which follow:

If ‘A x B’ means A is the son of B.

If ‘A + B’ means A is the father of B.

If  ‘A > B’ means A is the daughter of B.

If ‘A < B’ means A is the wife of B.

What will come in the place of the question mark, if it is provided that M is the grandmother of F in the expression:

‘F x R < S ? M’.

Options:
A) >
B) <
C) +
D) x
E) Cannot be determined
Solution:

X= son

+= Father

>= Daughter

<= Wife

In the give expression there is no symbol after M. from the given statement we can determine gender only if it is a symbol after that.so we cant determine the gender of M.

yes S is male.....but how can you say that S is the son of M???......it is mentioned in the question that M is the grandmother of F....here its not clear that its paternal grandmother or maternal grandmother....Hence, S can be either son or son-in-law of M.....Thats it....
