why is the 2*15 taken two times while calculating inner wall cost?

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Read the following data and answer the question that follow it.

The dimensions of the base of a house are 20 m × 15 m and its height is 3 m. It consists of two rooms whose floor dimensions are each 10 m × 5 m, a hall of 20 m × 5 m, a store rooms of 8 m × 5 m and a kitchen of 12 m × 5 m. All the outer walls of the house are painted at the cost of Rs. 210/sq m and all the inner walls are painted at the cost of Rs. 150/sq m.

What is the ratio of the total cost of painting to the outer surface of the walls to that of painting the inner surface of the walls?
Options:
A) 641 : 825
B) 49 : 85
C) 231 : 435
D) 9 : 225
E) None of these
Solution:

Ans: (b) The Required Ratio=

Outer Surface of the wall: Inner surface of the wall

Inner Surface of the wall = Two rooms of dimension 10 m × 5 m + A Hall of 20 m × 5 m + A store room of 8 m × 5 m+ A kitchen of 12 m × 5 m=2×2 (30+15)+2×(60+15)+2×(24+15)+ 2×(36+15)

=180+150+78+102=510 square metre

Cost=510×150=76500

The required ratio = 44,100 : 76500

= 44100 : 76500

= 441 : 765

= 49 : 85
