Why the denominator is taken as 7.7 instead of the total value i.e.30 ??

DIRECTIONS: Study the following table carefully and answer the questions that follow:


Table shows the distribution of Gas cylinder in different states and among different category of people of India under Pahal scheme.

Total distribution of Gas cylinder in Madhya Pradesh is what % more/less than that of total distribution of Gas cylinder in Assam and Punjab together?

Solution:
Ans (a)  Gas cylinder distribution in Madhya Pradesh = 6.5 

In Assam + Punjab = 4.2 + 3.5 = 7.7

Required answer =  \(\cfrac{7.7-6.5}{7.7}\) × 100 = 15.58% less
