i do not understand the upper concepts

Question:

DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.

Five boys – A, B, C, D and E – are sitting in row-I, facing North, and five girls – P, Q, R, S and T – are sitting in row-II facing South, not necessarily in the same order. Each boy in row - I is facing exactly one girl from row -II. The following information is known about them.

Only two persons sit between A and the boy who faces Q, who does not sit at any end. C is to the immediate left of B, but both of them are not adjacent to E. P is opposite the boy who is to the immediate right of D. D does not sit opposite Q. R is to the left of the girl who faces D. C does not face S.

Who faces S?

Options:
A)

A

B)

B

C)

D

D)

E

E)

Cannot be determined

Solution:

Ans: (c)

It is given that only two persons sit between A and the boy who faces Q, who does not sit at any end. Hence A sits at the right end or left end and Q sits second from the right end or second from the left end. As P is opposite the boy who is to the immediate right of D and D does not sit opposite Q. C is to the left of B but both of them are not adjacent to E Hence, D should sit to the immediate left of E and hence P sits second to the left of Q, C sits at the left end of row-I, B sits to the immediate right of C and E sits to the immediate left of A.

As R is to the left of the girl who faces D, R sits at the left end of row-II and given C does not face S, hence C faces T. The final arrangement is as shown below.

Row-II  T Q S P R

Row-I   C B D E A

D faces S.
