As per qn, both pipes start working together (Question: 103101.0 )

As per the question both the pipes were open from the beginning, and after sometime A was closed. According to this logic the time after which A was closed(or the time for which both the pipes worked together) comes out to be 4.8 mins

Question:
A tank can be filled by two pipes in 20 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. When the tank was empty, the two pipes were opened. After some time, the first pipe was closed and the tank was filled in 18 minutes. After how much time from the start, was the first pipe closed?
Options:
A) 5 minutes
B) 8 minutes 
C) 10 minutes
D) 12 minutes 
E) None of these
Solution:


By B it is filled for 18 min. = 36 liter (as 2 liter filled in 1 min)

Remaining 60 – 36 = 24 lite is filled by A

In 8 min (as 24/3 = 8)
