@ means

Question:
DIRECTIONS: In the following questions, the symbols *,©,=,@, and # and are used with the following meaning:

P * Q means P is greater than Q.

P © Q means P is either greater than or equal to Q.

P = Q means P is equal to Q.

P @ Q means P is smaller than Q.

P # Q means P is either smaller than or equal to Q.

Choose correct answer as given in options.

Statements: A @ B, D @ E, C = D, C © B

Conclusions: I. E * B   II. B = E

Options:
A) Only conclusion I is true.
B) Only conclusion II is true.
C) Either conclusion I or II is true.
D) Neither conclusion I nor II is true.
E) Both Conclusions I and II follow.
Solution:
Ans (a):

statements:

A < B, D < E, C = D, C > B

A < B < C = D < E

Conclusions:

I. E > B                (true)

II. B = E               (false)

Only conclusion I is true.

yes its given that @ means <, But given answer is correct...

statements:
A < B, D < E, C = D, C >= B

Now, combine all together,

A < B <= C = D < E ______(1)

Conclusions:
I. E > B (may be true)
II. B = E (may be true)

we know that E can never be less than E from equation(1), so we are left with only two signs to correlate E and B which are > and =, so one of these has to be true, so either or option appears in this case....

Either conclusion I or conclusion II is true. Hence, option(c) is correct...
