Answer should be 87.5

Question:
DIRECTIONS: Following line-graph shows the percentage profit earned by two companies A and B during the period of 2005 to 2011.

If the expenditure of A in 2009 and the expenditure of B in 2005 are equal, the income of B in 2005 is approximately what percentage of the income of A in the year 2009?
Options:
A) 87.5%
B) 92.5%
C) 94.5%
D) 96.5%
E) 108%
Solution:

Ans: (b) %PA-2009 = 60% and %PB-2005 = 48%

Let EA = EB = x

IA =x X 160/100 and,

IB =x X 148/100;

Required % = {(148x/100)/(160x/100)} X 100 =92.5% .

Profit percentage = {(Income-Expenditure)/Expenditure}*100 Now calculate expenditure(x) for Company A, 45 = {(52.49-x)/x}*100 45x=5249-100x 45x+100x=5249 145x=5249 x=5249/145 = 36.2 Do same for company B and then add both to get answer...
