ans will be 800...solve it normal way and by back calculation

Question:
5% more is gained by selling a cow for Rs. 1010 than by selling it for Rs. 1000. Find the cost price of the cow.
Options:
A) Rs. 200
B) Rs. 150
C) Rs. 125
D) Can’t determined
E) None of these
Solution:

P2% - P1% = 5%

\(\frac{1010-x}{x}\)× 100 -  \(\frac{1000-x}{x}\) × 100 = 5

Or \(\frac{100}{x}\)  [ (1010 – x) – (1000 – x)] = 5

Or \(\frac{100}{x}\) (1010 – x – 1000 + x ) = 5

Or \(\frac{100}{x}\) × 10 = 5 ∴ x = Rs. 200

5% more is gained by selling a cow for Rs. 1010 than by selling it for Rs. 1000.

it means 5%(profit%) = Rs. 10(Profit)

you must remember the formula, Profit% = (profit/C.P)*100

So, the cost price of the cow = (profit/Profit%)*100 = (10/5)*100 = Rs.200
