6B + 5G=3 ----1
14B +3G=3/2----2 SO

SO TOTAL 20B+ 8G= 1/3+2/3 = 1 DAY

DIVIDE 4 5B+ 2G= 1/4.. SO ANS 4

Question:
Six boys and five girls can complete a job in 3 days. 14 boys and 3 girls can complete it in 1\(\cfrac{1}{2}\) days. Find the time (in days) in which 5 boys and 2 girls can complete it.
Options:
A) \(3\cfrac{1}{2}\)
B) 5
C) 4
D) \(4\cfrac{1}{2}\)
E) 3
Solution:

Ans (c) Let the work which can be completed each day by a boy and a girl ‘b’ units and ‘g’ units respectively.

Work which can be completed by 6 boys and 5 girls in three days = Job = (6b + 5g) 3units

Similarly, Job = (14b + 3g) (1.5) units

(6b +5g) (3) = (14b + 3g) \(\left (1 \cfrac {1}{2} \right )\)

18b + 15g = 21b + 4\(\cfrac{1}{2}\) g

10 ½ g = 3b i.e. 7/2 g = b

Job = (6(7/2 g) + 5g) (3) units =78 g units.

Work which can be completed by 5 boys and 2 girls in a day = (5b + 2g) units = (5(7/2 g)+2g) units = 39/2 g units.

∴ Required time = 78g/(39g/2) days = 4 days.
