Question:

DIRECTIONS: Study the following graph carefully and answer the questions that follow:

Yearly expenditure (in ten thousands) of six persons Aman, Raj, Chandan, Harsh, Altu and Deep

Break up of expenses of Aman

If the yearly expenditure on electricity for all the six persons is the same, then for how many persons was the expenditure on electricity more than 4.5% of their total yearly expenditure?
Options:
A) Two
B) Three
C) Four
D) Five
E) Six
Solution:

Yearly expenses on electricity for all the six persons = 5% of 2,40,000 = Rs.12,000

Aman’s expenditure on electricity of his total yearly expenses = 5%

Raj’s expenditure on electricity of his total yearly expenses = \(\cfrac{12000}{280000}\) × 100 = 4.28%

Chandan’s expenditure on electricity of his total yearly expenses = \(\cfrac{12000}{280000}\) × 100 = 4.8%

Harsh’s expenditure on electricity of his total yearly expenses = \(\cfrac{12000}{320000}\) × 100 = 3.75%

Altu’s expenditure on electricity of his total yearly expenses = \(\cfrac{12000}{150000}\) × 100 = 8%

Deep’s expenditure on electricity of his total yearly expenses = \(\cfrac{12000}{300000}\) × 100 = 4%
