DIRECTIONS: These questions are based on the following information.

Seven friends Palak, Parul, Pooja, Poonam, Pavni, Preeti and Pinky are sitting in a row facing North. The following information is known about them:

(i) Pinky is sitting second to the left of Poonam, who is to the immediate left of Pavni.

(ii) Preeti is to the immediate right of Pooja, who is two places away from Poonam.

(iii) Parul is sitting at the left end of the row.

If Preeti and Poonam exchange their positions with Palak and Pavni respectively, then who are adjacent to Pooja?

Options:
A) Preeti and Parul
B) Poonam and Palak           
C) Poonam and Pavni          
D) Palak and Preeti
E) Only Pinky
Solution:
Ans (b) Before the change in positions, Pavni and Preeti are adjacent to Pooja. Hence after the change in positions. Poonam and Palak will be adjacent to Pooja.

From (i), we have

Pinky   __ Poonam Pavni

Now from (ii) as Pooja is two places away from Poonam, he has to be to the right of Poonam. Thus, we have the following arrangement.

Pinky __   Poonam  Pavni  Pooja  Preeti

Now from the above arrangement and (iii) we get,

Parul Pinky Preety Panvi Poonam Pooja Palak
