QII 1/19=5.263 > QI

Question:

DIRECTIONS: In the following question, two statements numbered I and II are given, on solving them, we get quantities I and II respectively. Compare both the quantities and choose the correct option.

Quantity I- Profit percentage 5.26

Quantity II- A trader sells 100 mangoes and gains a profit equal to the selling price of five mangoes. What percent of the profit does he get?

Options:
A)

Quantity I > Quantity II

B)

Quantity I < Quantity II

C)

Quantity I ≥ Quantity II

D)

Quantity I ≤ Quantity II

E)

Quantity I = Quantity II or the relation can’t be determined

Solution:

Ans:(e)

From Quantity I-Profit percentage 5.26

From Quantity II-

Let the selling price of each mangoes = x Rs.

Than selling price of 100 mangoes = 100x Rs.

Gain = selling price of 5 mangoes = 5x Rs.

cost price of 100 mangoes = SP - Gain

                                       = 100x - 5x

                                        = 95x

Gain percentage = ( gain x 100 ) / CP

                         = 5x x 100 / 95x

 Gain percentage = 5.26 %

Quantity I = Quantity II or the relation can’t be determined
